Exeter is not alone in having accomodation that is good but not brilliant. To be honest, Exeter's programme of building and refitting halls is a little slow, and the cracks are beginning to show in some halls. But realistically, it doesn't really matter. The halls are good fun. the food is terrible, the cleaners do a good job for the hours and wages they are employed for and the atmosphere in halls is brilliant! Living in Exeter is not cheap however. Houses and Halls all are victim to the wealthy status of most of Exeter's students. Sloanes as they are known, are willing to pay a lot for not much, mainly due to daddy being willing to pay for anythiong his little dears may want. Expect to pay a lot for accomodation. Changes are happening in the right direction, but only slowly. A lot of progress needs to be made for the damage of recent years to be reveresed. I would not live in halls again out of choice, but I look back on my time in halls with such strong and enjoyable memories that I would have not have changed my choice of accomodation for the world!

For the money you pay, Exeter University's accommodation could be a LOT better. I would even go as far as to say that some of the halls resembled large multi-storey car-parks and with their cold concrete interior and flourescent strip-lighting, they look as comfortable as one! However, from a social point of view the halls are perfect for getting to know one another and settling in & living in halls for the first year is worth it overall.
