Advantages: Close to everywhere, lower crime rates

Disadvantages: A little more expensive

Hey all you budding engineering students if you are thinking of doing an engineering course at Queens Uni Belfast, take my advise and look for a house in the Stranmillis area of Belfast.

We left it a little late to get accomodation in Belfast and ended up paying quite a high rent. but being only 30 seconds away from the Ashby and David Kerr buildings (these are the 2 buildings the largest majority of the engineering classes are held in) I don't really care.

When you don't have to get up until twenty/a quqrter to nine in the morning after a big night out in the 'Bot' or 'Egg' this is well worth a few extra pound!

The 'Bot' and the 'Egg' are two of the better pubs/nightclubs in Belfast and again are no more than three mins walk away from the stranmillis road.

Typical rent in around stranmillis would average around £150
but it can range from as low as £120 and up to £180.

If you are not willing to spend that type of money you can get cheaper houses in the Holy Lands or some of the areas a little more out of the city centre.

Holy lands is a very 'studenty' area which has it's advantages and is close to alot of the night life too but it can be a little rough at times with a higher crime rate.

Think about it! £20 pound a month less rent but £xxx stolen!
i am not saying there is not theft in Stranmillis but there certainly isn't as much!

Happy house hunting!
