Advantages: Good education
Disadvantages: Bad food, accommodation etc etc
Being only 15 you would think that there would be very little that i could tell you about this university. Right? But you would be wrong. My sister has been there for a number of weeks and everyday that she phones up she has another thing to complain about. First of all there was a big problem with accommodation. They told her she couldn't stay in her first choise so they moved her into these other flats that were more expensive. Then they send a letter to very student a week before she goes saying that there are at leat 200 places in one of the buildings. This building just happened to be my sisters first choice and she was told only a fornight before that this place was full and she could not stay there. This problem is just for starters. She has complained about the food and her room mates have vomited several time this week. The food is apparently uneadible and my sister is trying to get the university to agree to letting them go self catering. My sisters flat is not that bad apart from the fact that her wardrobe is falling to pieces and there is a huge lack of space. So in conclusion Birmingham university may look good from the outside but isn't too hot once you start living there.

- 08/10/00 I went to Birmingham Uni and can relate to what your sister is experiencing. I had much the same problem and opted to go into student lodging with a family in the end. It was worth doing because I had a whole attic flat to myself! |
