Advantages: Rooms on a plate, no need to hunt for your own, Some Catered

Disadvantages: Highly variable, Some very pricey

Being the first to write anything in this category I thought it might be useful to provide people with a quick summary of those sites that I know anything about. You can get the full list of accommodation available from the King's website (http://www.kcl.ac.uk). If you can't find it, simply search for accommodation.

Brian Creamer House SE1
-----------------------
All I know about this place is that it's dead hard to get into, but if you do get into it... lucky you. St Thomas' Hospital will be a 5 minute walk away and you may be able to keep your car onsite, if you ask nicely for a permit.

Hampstead Campus NW3
--------------------
Biggest plus for this place was its size (587 students) thus allowing large social groups. Many a person I knew from that hall has come away with a larger, rather than smaller group of people they know, merely due to the fact that there is a large diversity of students onsite.
Biggest downfall has to be the long-ish haul travel from Hampstead to any of the campuses you may be studying at.

King's College Hall SE5

This is the place that I stayed at, and have never left the area. Big pluses are again the size of the place and big social events every now and then. Regular film nights are a bit of a bonus, espeically since they got a big projection screen to show them on. Plus, there's a "sky room" but in my time this wasn't really much. Just a room with a TV hooked up to Sky plonked in it. There's time to socialise at mealtimes too, if and when you have them that is. Catering for such a large number of people is difficult and so food is very much school dinner-esque. Many complain and many choose not to have them anymore, despite you paying for them beforehand.
Facilities wise, I've mentioned some... but don't be fooled by the advertised weights room, as that's what it is. A room with weights in it and that
9;s about all it is. Car parking onsite is not a problem, nor are bikes. Squash courts onsite are nice to have, and they are kept within reasonable conditions. Same goes for the snooker room and the table tennis tables. A recently installed computer room is severely over suscribed. Only a few computers for 472 students! Oh, forgot to mention the cheap bar!
Nearby you have good connections into King's sites wherever. Warning for medical and dental students. Don't be fooled into thinking that you'll be based down the road at King's College Hospital. Chances are you won't be. Double check where you'll be based. Local shops in Camberwell aren't that bad, though the Sainsbury's on the other side of the hill is the best to shop at.
Beware before moving in. There are three distinct blocks to live in.
- Danehurst - looks like prison, feels like prison, and is full of 1st year students. Prepare for some rowdiness or try and choose a room in a corner if you can. 460 is perfect.
- Cameron - quiet building mostly. Usually has more postgraduate students in it. Choose if you want to get more work done.
- Platanes - the oldest building of the three. Also the largest rooms, but variable in size. Fairly quiet, depending if you get a main coridor or not. Watch out for partitioned rooms. They've been done cheaply so you can hear EVERYTHING in the room next door. Believe me you don't want to sometimes.

Great Dover Street Apartments
-----------------------------
Ideal site for the Guy's site. Much sought after, otherwise similar to Stamford Street.

Stamford Street Apartments SE1
------------------------------
Pluses... own room, own shower in a flat, ethernet sockets in room, very close to Waterloo and Strand campuses -> save on travelcard money
Minues... New, so teething problems, no bar/common room, small rooms, poor ventilation, flimsy walls

Hope this has all been of some u
se.
