Advantages: good atmosphere

Disadvantages: some are a bit minging

Lancaster comprises of 9 different colleges, you live in your college and each college has different accomodation, some better than others, but in each case the atmosphere is brilliant. Also in each halls there is a bar....so it can't be too bad. None of the halls are catered, but there is a "silver card" deal or a "gold card" deal, which means that you can get your meals from Cartmel restaurant, which is close to all halls, so its pretty handy if you can't/won't cook.

I am in my second year now and live in town, which is also wicked, but we still reminisce about the quality times we had in our halls. I lived in County, which meant that there were 26 in my kitchen, which does sound like a lot, but the kitchen was PLENTY big enough and had just been refurbished....its a shame the toilets hadn't, its a bit strange going to the loo next to someone like at school, but you soon get used to it. The rooms in county aren't exactly big, but they are big enough to live in, with a window seat, a desk and wardrobe and a sink they are good, and the corridors are friendly and basically the atmposhere is really good. Also the 26 to a kitchen means that you don't ever get lonely which is a bonus.

I'm going on what I've seen of my friend's rooms here... ok, Cartmel. Cartmel rooms are bigger than countys and there are less to a kitchen as cartmel have a flat system going on really, which is cool, but they put 1st years together with 3rd years, which means that the 3rd years can be a bit annoying telling the 1st years to shut up, but usually the 3rd years go out just as much as the first years so its wicked. Also the bathrooms are better in Cartmel, there are no communal showers, just seperate rooms which is wicked.

Lonsdale has a really nice bar...but i don't really know about the rooms, apart from that there aren't that many to a kitchen, it might be 8 but i'm not sure, but my friend says
they're "livable" andseems to have had a wicked time there....so sorry, don't really know much.

Bowland rooms are a bit minging...there is another review about bowland on here, they have big kitchens where you can see out onto the square....but then bowland also has a big tower, which is aparantly really cramped and a bit weird....but i haven't been up, sorry!

Furness rooms are in blocks and these rooms are quite big, and nice, but the kitchens are quite small, but that doesn't matter as there aren't that many people to a kitchen.

Fylde rooms are an alright size, they're quite nice, but sorry again! i don't know what the kitchens are like, the toilets seem alright though.

Pendle rooms are REALLY nice, they're big, and new and have nice toilets and George fox rooms are to die for... no. really. they're gorgeous.....well as gorgeous as student digs can be.

Grizedale rooms are the smallest and have bricks like a prison for walls, but they're not THAT small, they're ok to live in, and the kitchens are quite big, and the toilets are actually communal ones, but its ok, as not too many people are in a corridor so its not a problem.

All in all the rooms on campus as a bit hit and miss, but this doesn't deter from the atmoshere on campus and being able to go down to the bar without even putting your shoes on is also an advantage. If you want comfort and luxury get into george fox its a bit more expensive but if you think its worth it then you shouldn't mind that. The price of most rooms is around £42 which is really cheap compared with what my other mates at other universitys are paying and if you want a good time just try any of them as thats guaranteed anywhere.

V enjoyable op to read, but I HATED student halls! I wouldn't set foot in one again for love nor money.
