Advantages: Nice and big with plenty of friend to be made

Disadvantages: Foods not very good

This is aimed at Freshers spending there first years in Halls of Residence in the University of Liverpool.

I spent my first year in halls at the Derby and Rathbone Halls of Residence, which I found to be extremely enjoyable. It cost me over 2000 pounds for a years catered accomadation.

I have to honestly say that the food wasn't much good or the rooms were particularly brilliant but what make it so good is the fact that it is so large and this virtually guarentees you to make friends during your time there.

The JCR is reasonably priced and you will find that they put on some decent events and promotions. The area around the halls is very pretty and situated next to the prestigous Penny Lane.

One big beef is that you will have to get a lot of taxis after going out late but otherwise the halls are well served with a dedicated bus route that runs betwen the halls and the University.

I would say that you are best checking it out for yourself but you will probably like what you see.
