Having spent this last year at Castle Leazes I have found it to have a lot to offer first year students at Newcastle. Castle Leazes is so close to the university and the town centre which makes it easy to get around without getting lost. it also saves alot of money on travel as everything is in easy walking distance. These other reviews are misleading. All though Castle Leazes halls is best for location and meeting loads of people, sadly it is also frankly crap. Do not come here if you value your freedom, especially after a gap year because it is very claustrophobic. Nearly everyone is a first year. My opinion of Castle Leazes halls of residence is that it is a great choice if you are a first year at Newcastle. It is a great way to meet people and form really strong friendships. Castle Leazes is the place to be - you can apply to one of three halls within the one main building, although there's no real difference between them. Most freshers live here, mainly because it's the handiest for town and uni, and there's no need to worry about food (it's not wonderful, but I've had worse). Floors/corridors ...
