Whattt? I am currently living in Cranborne House and don't even want to move out!
The internet connection is as it is at home, I live with guys doing computer courses and they have no complaints. Occasionally the uni intranet can be down for a weekend.
I'm in a value room but even that is fine. Otherwise the rooms are better than I imagined. It is a bit grimy when you move in, the cleaners are god awful but the day I moved they had provided a starter kit so a wipe round was all it needed.
The wardens can be arseholes but on the whole, they are pleasant and always helpful. Just do your bit. Clean your flat for inspections and everything will be fine.
As for noise. IT'S 500 FRESHERS! I'm sorry, no one can expect anything else. On the application form, Cranborne is under "loud and lively". Maybe the American should have gone for "quiet" to be in the student village. Freshers week was rowdy but everyone is quiet when they need to be ie exam times. Fire alarms at 4am are annoying but it's all part of the fun and you get to meet everyone on the way down.
Sex? I hear a lot of it. Tell your flatmates to shut up or put music on.
This is student life!
I would very very very much recommend Cranborne House to anyone wanting halls. Hurn and Glenfern aren't all that, and while Purbeck is more modern, there isn't the same warmth to it like Cranborne where everybody loves everybody.
And, the bus stop for uni linx is right outside.
Althought i am not a student at bournemouth uni have has a family membe who has spent a year at cranbounre house from my opinon i found it exactly as i expected for a university accomodatition as recards to the previous persons comments regarding clenleynese i believe that to be up to students! also the university have just finished a new halls (the name has fanished from me atm) and they have also upgraded the internet so it is t3 and can handle alot of users at one time
Bournemouth University accommodation is horrible. I came from America to study here and asked if I could see the place before signing the contract. They didn't let me, but I decided to go with them anyway because of the Internet access. I'm doing an MSC in Computing so I needed Internet access for that, my job, and to keep in touch with friends. But the Internet access was so slow that it literally would not log me on most of the time - I could only log on really early in the morning. Then I moved out (because I needed Internet access for my degree), but they gave me hassle and charged me two extra weeks and I've been fighting with that ever since. Also, the walls are so thin and you can hear people partying above you or below you. My flatmate could even hear people having sex! The hallways are dark, smelly, and the rooms are dirty. When I moved in, there were several ear wax cleaners in the shower. I would advise all NOT to move into Bournemouth University accommodation. Bournemouth University accommodation is really horrible, and the people in the office are not helpful; they are very rude. WHATEVER YOU DO, STAY AWAY FROM BOURNEMOUTH UNIVERSITY ACCOMMODATION!!!! 2003-2004
