Advantages: Easy to meet people, don't have to worry about bills, nice staff

Disadvantages: Very expensive for living in essentially a pretty cardboard box sized room

Grosvenor House - This was my halls during my first year at De Montfort University. The halls itself were lovely but I had a few problems initially as my course started during summer and although they had several months notice they were still not able to have my room ready for when I arrived so I was put into another building within the complex. They then gave me my keys by mistake and I moved to my actual room (which was the same rental price but a lot smaller) to find the flat hadn't been cleaned since summer!
Aside from these teething problems the halls were very nice and modern to live in albeit very small coming from living in a family home.
A few points about my halls in particular though:
- Shower doesn't drain hugely well and can flood the room
- Security are very nice letting you in if you forget your keys etc, but replacement fobs can cost you upto £50
- All appliances came with apart from the washing machine, so washing is very expensive and has to be done in the laundry room

Halls in General - Once you've lived in halls you'll soon find out private rented accomodation is hugely cheaper, even the halls type accomodation like Regents Court is a similar set up to University owned halls but more relaxed and a good £20 a week cheaper. Halls can be a good means to an end for first years to meet people but I find its the type of situation you will love or hate and I couldn't imagine many 2nd or 3rd years would want to live in a tiny living space with noisy 18 year olds

Summary: Would never go back now I've found you can get much better value for money in houses
