Accomodation at Heriot-Watt University is splited into 3 parts. First years, final years and post grads. First years are housed mainly in catered flats with shared bath rooms and just a little kitchen. Final years (and others) have a choice of ensuit or shared toilets flats. Usually the arrangement will be 5 rooms sharing a kitchen to make up a flat for the shared toilet flats and 6 rooms sharing a kitchen in the ensuits. There is a marked difference between these 2 types which I will explain later. Finally the post grads are housed in 2 or 3 special blocks that are pretty far from the rest.
