Halls Of Residence At Kingston University in generalNewest Review: ... It is also only about a half hour walk to the university, should you not want to catch the bus. An added bonus for me was that there was parking at the halls and you could apply for a free permit to park there for the year. There was a communal area in the halls with a computer, pool table, sky tv etc, however I never used this so I cannot really comment other then to say it was there. In ... more |

I lived at Clayhill halls of residence which is situated in Surbiton. As far as I am aware, these were the most expensive halls to stay in (I paid £97 p/w) as they were all ensuite rooms. The blocks are made up of three floors, (ground, first, second) and contain three flats each with four rooms. Room 1 for some reason is a lot bigger then the others; I was lucky enough to get this room! The university provides a bus which ran every 20 minutes, which took you to the university. The bus service ended around 10pm usually, however cabs in Kingston and Surbiton don't cost that much if it is split between a few of you. I would say that travel to and from these ... After reading the first review submitted for Clayhill halls of residence, i feel obligated to write my own.
As an actual resident of the halls i must completely disagree with the review submitted previously. The halls are situated in a private area of houses which cost in the hundred thousands, and is extremely safe. We have fields and easy access into surbiton and surrounding shops. The bus is quick and often, and runs until about 10pm...after then taxis are only about £6 to town, so between 4 its nothing!! The atmosphere is amazing, and i've met some of the best friends ive ever known.
The fittings, facilities and amenities at Clayhill are great and much better than some of the universities i have visited.
I feel that it is important to live here before being able to submit a review, especially one so negative.

This hall is in the middle of no where, there is very little transport into or out of the halls. There is a university run shutter bus, but that does not run too regularly or too late into the night. So if you want to go out at night in a heavy snow storm, tough luck! Its about 1 mile to walk to the nearest train station. The ground the halls are situated is at the end of a dodgy estate, walking alone at night is NOT recommended. The grounds looks more ... Read the complete review
