great for your first year and if you ever need to go back to visit

When I was an undergrad in Bath for my first year I lived in Eastwood. And I'm sure everyone says this about the halls they stayed in, but Eastwood was the best! The halls are set up like a house, 13 rooms with a bed, desk, sink and a few other bit of furniture. Rooms were spread over 3 floors each floor had a toilet and a shower-this may sound like a nightmare but works out fine since everyone gets up a different times. A kitchen is on the lowest floor, which is shared by everyone. A cleaner for the common area come around and will do a basic clean (but not the washing up!). The big advantage to Eastwood was that it was all year round accommodation so you could leave your stuff there over the Easter and Christmas holidays.

More recently I've stayed in Polden Court for a couple of nights while I was in Bath at a conference at the university. This is some of the post-grad accommodation, the rooms were great, a large double en-suite. They provided towels and some nice White Company toiletries and stuff to make tea and coffee. The cost (2010) of these rooms were Single en-suite £50.00; Double en-suite £69.00; Twin en-suite £69.00.

I think that Norwoods the best (i lived there so excuse the biass). The rooms are the biggest on campus. The showers rock arse, really powerfull things. Wash basin in your room. Amazing views on the centre of bath. Above the SU so down the lift and ur in the plug bar. Also no distancew to lectures and you dont have to go out side to get from one lecture to the next.

However I had many friends cross campus, so I can give a fairly good review of all of them, if any one wants to know any more specific details about residences leave a question in the comments section.

Problem with Marlborough and Solsbury for me is they remind me of hotel rooms and are very impersonal, I could never imagine it being home, you not allowed posters up and they are falling appart cos they cut costs on the building so the showers on higher floors leak on to the floors below etc. Also its not very central.

Westwood the rooms are very smal and the onsuite pod is awful, the showers naff and ur bog roll gets wet.

Eastwood is where the pikees reside and when I lived on campus they were falling appart but they have recently been renovated, so could be quite nice now.

Overall I would go for Norwood or Eastwood, ironically they are ceaper by along way but v nice. Also because the unis over subscribing each yr people are being sent to town, I know nothing about those ones, appart from JOhn Woods good but its mainly full of chineese students.

And also there is a rumour going around that the uni is planning on trying to house all of its students, by renting from big companies and renting the properties to students, making a bit of prophit on the way. Whether this is tru, i dont know and if they mean 2nd and 3rd and 4th years as well as 1st that would be wonderful, but i dont know. And knowing Bath and money situations as with all unis its deadline will continue to be extended.

Also the meal plan isn't a good idea I would strongly advise anyone against it. The vouchers arent enough to buy a meal, you have to top it up with your own money. Choices is where you have to eat I think and is open from 12-2 and then 6-8. Also the food is fatty and xpensive. Surely you just want to leave it to the booze to give you your belly
