Halls Of Residence At The University Of BirminghamNewest Review: ... you can call any other university number on for free (including other dorms - really useful for being social). The rooms can be as warm as you want due to bills included in rent so there is no heating problems. In some of the rooms there is the case of damp around the windows but I imagine over the summer holidays that will be fixed when the flats are vacant. -----Kitchen----- You will get ... more |

After reading the other review on Ashcroft I thought it would be best to update it s it has been 6 years since it was written. Ashcroft is a group of student flats in the Pritchatts Park Student Village at the University of Birmingham. Each flat houses 6 people in single bedrooms with shared bathroom facilities. -----Study-Bedrooms----- The bedrooms are classified as study-bedrooms and this is because you get a huge desk, which is usually attached to the chest of drawers too; when measure you end up with around 4 square metres of desk space, which is alot. In the room you also have large bookcases on the walls, which can hold ... Read the complete review

Living in halls is certainly one of the best experiences one could have. Its insane as you get to experience student life which is certainly one of the best times of your life. If you are living in halls you are usually sharing a flat with other students. These flats may consist of 4-18 people depending on the size of accommodation. There is usually a choice of en-suite accommodation for students. These flats may consist of 4-18 people depending on the size of accommodation. Manor house is situated about 2 miles by road from the main campus, so budget for a bus pass. Room quality is variable - it depends on how much you want to spend. I'm living in the least attractive (and cheapest) Wolfson Wing which to be honest, with its painted breeze block walls looks like a prison without bars. Wolfson wing is in dire need of re-decoration, so expect flaking paint everywhere. Toilet facilities are poor to the point of being almost unacceptable as is the level of maintainance - they had not even hoovered the carpets before I moved in, the door lock was broken and the window won't shut properly! Don't expect too much privacy - the walls and doors ... Read the complete review

This Catered hall is located about three kilometers from the main campus and one from the Westhill (Selly Oak) campus. This is the only real disadvantage of this hall. The hall is composed of four sections, The Old House, the Wings, the Wolfson Wing, and the Cadbury wing. The Old house is the original half timbered building donated by the Cadbury family. It can be quite social, and has large rooms, some en-suite, some shared, but not all. This area also houses the old Common room, a library which has a good working atmosphere, and the Dining hall. The east and west wings were built in the 1950's and have large, solidly constructed, but ageing ... Read the complete review

Ashcroft is a development of self-catering flats close to the university of Birmingham, part of the Pritchatts Park Student Village. Students are in Flats of 6 with in 3 story blocks with 2-3 flats on each floor. The Flats have been recently refurbished and so have a pleasent atomosphere and with large desks so there is pleanty of space to spread work out or make a mess. The rooms are a reasmonble size. There is also a large kitchen area which includes a microwave, very useful for cooking ready meals. But be warned the microwave instructions are very hard to understand, so I have not been able to do stuff like defrost meat. The Flat is lacking ... Read the complete review
