York Uni accomodation - not so great (Halls Of Residence At The University Of York)
Member Name: MikeModano09
Advantages: Close to uni Disadvantages: Poor quality rooms and no supermarkets near
As people have said it is a lottery, if you manage to get one of the newer rooms in James college then congratulations but in most of the other colleges the rooms have not changed since the day they were built. In my freshers year I was in Wood Court in Halifax College. The rooms are rather basic you get a bed, a desk and a sink with not much else. The kitchens are stocked with 2 fridges a microwave and an oven with hob attachment. Overall I found 2 fridges not to be enough, the microwave to be unreliable at best and the oven to be outdated and ineffective. On the plus side they are cleaned once a week by the university staff. Another downside I found from my personal experience is that the cupboards you are provided with to store your food are rather small and do not accommodate much food. Summary: Is a complete lottery!! |
