Advantages: Location

Disadvantages: Be careful with electricity and deposit

Hunter Court, as it states on its webpage, is ideally situated right in the heart of the university campus. The Edward Wright building, one of the main ports of call for internet access, is directly opposite and is open 24 hours. The St Machar bar and the Bobbin are also only a stone's throw away, especially useful if you happen to require some chill-out time over a beer or two. A particular favourite amongst those living at Hunter is the fact that one is able to get up at 8.55 in the morning and still reach that beloved 9 a.m. lecture-very handy indeed!

There are not too many disadvantages. However, there are some things that need to be mentioned. There is a 1000 pound limit on electricity. While this may sound a lot, one must bear in mind that Aberdeen tends to become rather cold at particular times during the year. While some of your flat mates may be eco-friendly, others may not be so environmently conscious. A prime example can be taken from our flat and the one situated above us. Two of the guys in each flat would leave their heaters on continuously and, as the electricity meter was shared by everyone, we all had to pay extra because we had exceeded our 1000 pound limit (by some margin, I may add!).

The 200 pound deposit. Make sure that you get the relevant person to
inspect your room, perhaps once every two months. We only received 65 pounds from our deposit at the end of the year, as for some reason our rooms were inadequately looked-after. Don't make the same mistake-make sure your landlord is happy with the flat before you leave.

I spent my final year at Hunter Court and found it ideal for both the academic as well as the social aspect of university life.

I hope this short review has been useful and hope you enjoy your time in Aberdeen!
