Advantages: Good size rooms, mini fridge, cleaner

Disadvantages: Variable food, bathroom, drunken idiots

Lincoln Hall on University Park was my hall of residence for my first year of university. I must say I was quite impressed.

The rooms were reasonably sized and comfortable. I shared a study with another girl, and this was a good size as well. The bedroom areas were slightly on the small side but overall the combined bedroom and study area was no smaller than other rooms.

When I stayed at Lincoln Hall, they had just had mini fridges put into every room, which I found exceptionally useful through out the year. The accommodation was comfortable with plenty of storage space. They were also clean; a cleaner comes round once a week to clean you room, which is a real plus point of catered halls.

The shower facilities in my block could have been better. On my floor we shared one shower, two toilets and two sinks between eleven people. the sinks weren't much of a problem as we each had on in our rooms, but having to share the shower with so many people was trying on occasion.

The laundry facilities were okay. Industrial size washing machines and dryer (for people who leave their washing a month at a time) and they were fairly cheap as well (£1.20 a wash). They could do with more as there were only four of each between about 200 people in the hall.

The thing most often complained about in halls was the food. I didn't find the food too bad. Of course it wasn't mum's cooking, but I've certainly had worse. The quality was variable, and occasionally there were no options I particularly liked the look of, but overall it was better than cooking for myself at the end of a day of lecture.

Overall my stay in Lincoln Hall was an enjoyable one. The biggest downside was the noisy drunken idiots coming home at 2am, but that's to be expected anywhere there is a large number of students.

Summary: I would recommend Lincoln Hall as a place to stay to any student.
