... you are thinking of going to the University of Durham then you will have to make a further decision, which college to associate yourself with. Let me help you make that decision with my experience (I went to Durham and was a memeber of Collingwood college. I was there from October 1998 to December 2001). Durham university is one of the older universities and works like Oxford and Cambridge in the fact that it h... Halls Of Residence At The University Of Durham ... some as you may have guessed (from reading my other ops) I've just become ones of those student types, y'know those scruffy people everyone hates! Part of the whole Uni lark involves living in student accommodation, which it has to be said isn't always necessarily great. If you haven't gathered from where I posted this op, I'm at the University of Durham which works slightly differently to a lot of other Universities. Just like every other University all first years get to live in University accommodation, but Durham differs slightly in that it has around 12 colleges in which students live. Unlike Oxford and Cambridge lectures aren't done in... Read the full review: Feeling A Little Fresher in the Wood by rob_writer |

Henderson Hall ... Upon first arriving at Henderson Hall I was quite satisfied with what I saw. It looked clean and lively and I was pleased to see that there were private buses running right into the Halls. However, what I didn't know was that these buses were only available for freshers week, which is a real pain when you live about three miles away from the actual university and the town centre itself. On my first day there I decided to try and walk it into town but after finally arriving at my destination after two hours of walking I promised myself that I would never do that again and bought a £43 bus pass which lasts for three months. This isn't a bad price but as a student... Read the full review: £8.00 taxis!!! by mahan_69 |

Accommodation in general ... the uni accomodation, then private accomodation options. Castle Leazes Modeled on Dartmoor prison, these 1969 built blocks are typical student accomodation. They aren't as bad as the above makes it sound, the rooms are ok and it is a big community of 1150 students and quite easy to make friends. There is a washbasin in every room and they are well situated very near to campus. The food is not good, but this is the best catered option. Go for Freeman or Eustace Percy if you don't need to stay in over the summer and save £200! Henderson Hall Nicer than Castle Leazes, but comes with one significent problem. It is way out and so far out that it is ... Read the full review: Accomodation options by Jon1981 |
