Liverpool Student Homes: http://www.lsh.liv.ac.uk/welcome.html Brownlow Property Management – Lawrence Road/Lawrence Grove, Wavertree L15 (0151) 733 3706 During my 3rd year at university I wanted a one bed flat – instead of shared accommodation – which can be problematic in terms of shared bathroom & kitchen. My boyfriend & I went to look at one flat – this one at Lawrence Grove and immediately knew we wanted it. There are approximately 7 flats in the entire building – 5 in the Lawrence Grove entrance, which is where I lived. There was 4 one bed flats and one 3 bed flat. The other flats on Lawrence Road were large shared flats. So what was in my flat? The flat is double glazed, with central heating. It’s carpeted in every room apart from the kitchen, which had a lino floor. The flat had an alarm system & fire/smoke alarm (which was very reliable – our neighbours often set it off making toast!) The building is a former police station so the walls are extremely thick & solid. The kitchen had a fridge with icebox, a gas oven, 2 double-door cupboards, a sink and under-sink cupboard. There is one proper work surface for preparing food. It was small but plenty big enough for our needs. The bathroom had a bath, with a shower attachment, and a pull out splash screen! There was also a sink & toilet. There was no window in our bathroom so there was a fan, which came on when you turned the light on. The bedroom contained 2 wardrobes, a chest of drawers & a double bed. Curtains were included in living room, bedroom and kitchen. Not all the living rooms had a sofa bed but ours did, a nice cream metal-action one. Perfect for watching TV on when I got the flu! There was a table & 2 chairs and a bookcase in the living room. We had 2 windows in the living room. For a one bed flat it was approximately £60 a week including water rates. Its nice, clean & modern, a
nd not at all shabby like some student accommodation. The area is quite convenient for students of all of the colleges in Liverpool. Close to the 78/79//86/73 bus routes, approximately 2 miles from the city centre and about the same distance from Liverpool Hope. Directly opposite The Waldeck pub, a Chinese takeaway & newsagents and about a 3-minute walk from the launderette. A new ASDA is being built a 5 minute walk away on Smithdown Road.
