Advantages: More homelike, better facilities

Disadvantages: More expensive than halls

I am a first year student at Lincoln Uni and am currently living here at the Pavilions. Its a great student place to live and more luxorious than halls of residence and other private halls around.

You can chose to live in flats of 1-6 people and some rooms are private studios also which are more for couples etc. I am living with 5 others currently and we were selected at random as we are all first years. However, if you are 2nd or 3rd year students you can request to live with certain friends etc.

The flats are well furnished and look a lot better than halls of residence.
In the bedrooms there are:

-Double bed(small double, though no other Lincoln accomodation supplies doubles)

-Large desk, which streches wall to wall, this also incorparates 3 draws for clothes.

-Bed side table of decent size

-Good sized wardrobe with lots of shelfs in it for storage and space on the top for more things if needed.

-two shelfs- big enough for books and dvds etc. (The window also has a big ledge to keep things on)

-Pin board, to keep letters safe etc

-matress protectors and ethernet cables are also provided

-Ensuite with shower...this is a power shower also and works well.

-chair

The rooms are of decent size, however I have dcided to move my bed round so that the room looks a lot bigger and different to other peoples. Im not sure if I am allowed to do this but I did anyway :)

I am paying £3800 for a 40 week contract but it is usually £4200 for a 48 week contract(I got transferred from the uni halls therefore pay the same price). Im my opinion it is well worth the money.

In the Kitchen/living room you are provided with:

-32 inch lcd TV flatscreen

-2X Leather sofas

-Electric cooker and oven

-Large fridge

-Large freezer

-dishwasher

-coffee table

-lots of cupboards etc

The only thing to note is that you will have to bring your own toaster and kettle as they are not provided.

I find that having sofas included and a TV makes it feel more homely and people hang out together more, whereas in halls, these arent provided so people tend to stay in their rooms more and dont socialise as much.

Please note though that the walls here are plasterboard and not breezeblocks and therefore some noise can be heard between the rooms. This is not a big issue, I just feel that it should be noted.

In the village, there is also a bar called the MEZZbar, a shop which sells stuff that most newagents would. A reception for any problems though this shuts at random times.
There is also security around 24/7 for the security of students. Key fobs are also needed to get into the complex.

It is very close to the uni (just the other side of the train line) and for those studying sport etc, it is right next to the sports centre.

Morrisons is a 5 min walk, as is Lidl and the retail parks. The city centre is about a 15 min walk.
