Advantages: close to everywhere, fantastic atmosphere, cheap

Disadvantages: basic, can be noisy

I am a first year Maths student at Warwick Uni. Whitefields was my 3rd choice accommodation and so I was a little bit disappointed when I got the news that I would be staying there.
Throughout the course of the first two terms I have experienced many interesting and amusing things that have happened in Whitefields. The accommodation is the cheapest on campus and hence it is fairly basic. There is one shower between 12 people, it is a puny little thing and me being 6'2", it is quite uncomfortable. The kitchen has a pathetic cooker and consequently is always on 230 degrees no matter what the thing is you are cooking, if you are very lucky it may get somewhere near to half that temperature. The central heating in our flat doesn't seem to work which is fine now it is summer but was very annoying in the winter. The doorbell is broken and hasn't been fixed for ages, the windows have drafts and the front door doesn't always close.
HOWEVER, I absolutely love it here! The atmosphere around Whitefields is fantastic. The flats are always mingling with each other and you always feel welcome going around to someone else's flat. The style of the flat (12 rooms off the kitchen/lounge area) means there is always someone around to talk to if you are bored with your work. I admit the repairs may take a long time to be done when we ask for them, but to be fair, they do get done eventually and they are usually only minor repairs anyway. Everyone seems to know a lot of other people in Whitefields and it almost gives it a Neighbours feel (may God rest Madge's soul), with everyone knowing everyone. Whitefields is no more than 10 minutes from anything on campus and more importantly it is only a minute away from the union which makes staggering back after a night there a much more manageable task.
I would thoroughly recommend Whitefields to anyone coming to Warwick.

Whitefields cannot be beaten!!! Right next to the Cooler, and perfect therefore for Union hacks, like I used to be!!!

I don't think anyone ever puts it down as first choice, but no-one ever regrets landing up there!!!

Better than off campus - bloody buses!!!

I'm spotting a bit of a "Warwick University" possy type effect on Dooyoo at the moment...anyway back to the point...I think Whitefields is cool socially, but a bit manky in that you dn't get a sink etc. I had a friend in Whitefields 10 and boy was that noisy at night...right outside the Cooler doors....eeek.

Oh well, the myths about Whitefields have been shattered. You do actually mingle with the other flats! Obviously Westwood rules though. Heh heh.
