Character Options Torchwood Gwen Cooper Figure ... success of the newer series of Doctor Who led to the spin off show Torchwood, which stars American hunk John Barrowman. Although Barrowman is a huge draw, the show also pulls in viewers thanks to the exciting storylines and slightly more adult aroma to it. There are parallels with Doctor Who, in that stories and characters overlap, but the programme also stands up well on its own merits. I became obsessed with the show, with the cast, and watched episodes all day every day both on TV and DVD. And with my love for Doctor Who soon came my passion for sister show Torchwood. Now the first thing I noticed about Torchwood was not the fact that John Barrowman was the leading man, but the fact that the leading lady, Gwen Cooper, was played Eve Myles. Myles also played Gwyneth in Doctor Who Series 1, and reference to this is actually made in the Series 4 finale.
