C-3PO Vintage Style Figure VOTC Star Wars
by Siibillam-Law
We love our nostalgia. Even though we're always looking for new ways to move forward in life and technology, we always like to look back on the things that were. It's what makes those Space Invaders t-shirts so popular.
So what better idea did Habro have, but to feed that need for all things old by releasing the Star Wars ... Vintage Action Figure series. They are, in essence, a re-release of the original action figure toys that were released when the original trilogy became a huge success back in the late 70s and early 80s.
The C3PO figure here resembles greatly his original model as well as the character in the film, modeled with incredible detail and painted gold (or silver, for this leg) with brilliant shine. They say these are more flexible and can move easier than the original models and while I can't say for the old models, I can say this character has opposable arms and legs and moves about very well.
Standing at 3 to 4 inches tall, he stands up by himself well, although this is the sort of thing you'd probably not want to take out of the box. The packaging, reminiscent of the old style toys (and in fact a reprint of the original design), is all made to look just like the original toys did back when they were first released. A lot of people will probably see these are more of a collectors' item more than a toy and I have to say that they're probably right. After all, there are loads of Star Wars toys around, but this one seems a bit special. There's something about that nostalgia.
All in all, it would make a great toy, sure, but I think it's better suited as a gift to the hard core Star Wars fans and the collectors. Read the complete review |

Hasbro Star Wars Voolvif Monn
by benlepensive
We welcome Mr Wolfman, who could possibly be mistaken for the wookie Chewbacca from a distance. But no, this is Voolvif Monn. He was a Shistavanen Jedi Master and a wolfman who served as a Jedi General during the Clone Wars. He was a powerful and loyal fighter who rightfully earned his Jedi powers through genuine skill and prowess. Monn ... is part of the newer Clone Wars collection, so you won't see him in the older films. He has been made into an action figure by Hasbro, which is great because the furry characters are often the most visually interesting.
The figure is one of the best of the newer batch and I adore his chirpy looking face. There is a cartoon esque appeal to it, even though the savage look still comes through. His gnashing teeth are a expressive and ghoulish, while his eyes seem to hide dark secrets of the force! Hasbro have done his fur very well with a vivid level of texturing and articulation around his chops.
He sports a basic gown of armour, which is minimal yet practical. None of the Jedis wear fancy clothes and this toy echoes that sentiment. Monn has a bland looking tunic, but the colour scheme is accurate. What endears me to this figure is the unique pose. He has been given some truly buoyant leg movement, rather than the straight forward legs which have no sort of shape or pose about them. This really brings Monn to life.
As with all Jedis, he comes with a green lightsabre which can be removed or held in either paw. The best bet is to buy at auction sites, but boxed figures retail for about five pounds. This is one of the best of the newer creatures and he is one of only a few wolf creatures from the Star Wars saga, excepting Lak Sivrak from 'A New Hope.' Tremendous fun for collectors and children alike. Please not that the illustration here is actually for an Anakin, not Voolvif Monn! Read the complete review |

Hasbro Star Wars Legacy Collection Breha Organa Figure
by Matteos
The Queen of Alderaan Breha Organa can be seen at the end of 'Revenge Of The Sith' for only a few second, but remains a very important person in the Star Wars universe. At the beginning of the rise of the Empire era together with her husband, Bail Organa, she adopted Leia Skywalker, the newborn daughter of fallen Jedi Knight Anakin ... Skywalker and senator Padmé Amidala. The girl as a Princess Leia Organa soon became a central character in galactic history.
The figure has only a very basic articulation, 8 joints in total: head, shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist. Breha is not a agile warrior, but as far as I know we have XXI century now, so Hasbro should have done it better. Especially the lack of movable legs is sad - the Queen is simply not able to sit. The hard parts of the dress are also problematic from time to time. Anyway, with a small effort Breha can stand securely without any help of a stand.
The figure looks great! The royal dress is really impressing, with many details and excellent decorations. This is definitely the main, eye-catching advantage of the toy. What a shame that the dress is made of hard plastic! Only a veil is soft. The paint application and the sculpt seems to be almost perfect. Unfortunately, Hasbro didn't included any additional accessories to this toy. Because of a wide grip of Breha's hands you also can't use external objects from other figures, therefore you must confine yourself to body posing.
If you are fan of calm, peaceful action figures (or you already have Bail Organa figure which needs a good company), try this Breha Organa toy. It is a interesting, very decent action figure without any extravagant elements. Read the complete review |
