      pleasing figures

Some of the most intriguing baddies to have emerged from Doctor Who must be the dreaded Autons. They look like showroom dummies crossed with Kraftwerk. If you are under eight years of age then they will likely give you nightmares, as there something very sinister about the blank faces and way that they move. I know that I found them creepy!

Character Options have produced over one hundred action figures from the new series and the Autons were one of the first to be made. They can be bought on their own or in a twin pack as seen here. The twin pack should cost about eight to ten pounds, but it might be cheaper to buy them loose online like I do for about a pound each...that way you could build up an army of them quickly!

The toys are well articulated with moving limbs. You can twist the heads, arms and legs and seat them if desired. The costumes here are bland which is a shame, clad in black from head to toe, there is little to grab the eye, except for the waxwork heads. These have been very well shaped with the showroom dummy look coming across superbly. The blank features have been etched into the faces with undue care and precision and the vague look they have is unsettling. The figures are slightly different with varying patterns on the jackets, but there is not much to distinguish the two figures.

The lack of extras with this twin pack is another downside, so all you are getting is the basic action figures. On the plus side, the toys are well made, relatively inexpensive and a classic baddie from the show, which makes them a must for fans and a consideration for anyone else.
