Advantages: small, cute, doesnt snap easily

Disadvantages: all together can be expensive

Doctor Who is a popular sci-fi family show which has been on and off our screens for many years now. It is an amazing show about a man named the Doctor. He is a Time Lord who travels around in his big blue box known as the Tardis, rescuing and saving those who are in danger from the evil creatures of the universe. He sometimes travels alone but usually he is accompanied by a female companion. Our current Doctor is the gorgeous David Tennant!

This Doctor had travelled with a woman in the past named Sarah Jane (Elisabeth Sladen). He was reacquainted with her in series 2: School Reunion back in 2006, when we saw her again, complete with k9. K9 was a dog the doctor had made (his master) out of tin for Sarah Jane, providing a faithful companion for her. He is such a cute little dog, all small and silver, none other is quite as adorable!

Character Options and BBC together have provided us with many Doctor Who toys and merchandice over the last few years. One of these toys is the Micro Universe sets. These are small, inch high, figures of the characters from the episodes. They come in packs of 3 or 5, and you can only ever see 1 (in the 3-pack) or 2 (in the 5-pack) of figures you are going to get. This allows you to swap your 'doubles' with friends, making collecting more fun and adventurous.

Now I say they are an inch high, but as k9 is actually smaller than the rest of the characters in general, you will find he is a lot shorter here too, about half an inch! Though he is in no way less 'lifelike'. His shade of grey for his 'tin' is the perfect colour, and his little radar ears and long tail are in proportion too. He even has his little coloured buttons on the panel on his back (of course, they dont do anything!).

He may look amazing, but is he any fun? As the dog is sitting on a little black hexagonal stand, you cannot really move him around too much, unlike the 5" figure which is on wheels! Though a benefit about him being short is that he is less likely to snap off! With the inch high ones, you need to be exceptionally careful as they are more fragile and easier to break!

This figure is perfect for any young fans of the show, as despite not doing much, anybody with an imagination can have fun with the little k9! I would not say they are too ideal for any older fan though, as they are very expensive and not too detailed compared to the larger figures. Saying that, I still bought him!

So, should you go out and seek your K9? Affirmative!

Good review and interesting. I liked the old Dr. Who back in the 80's.
