Apparently, this lady is going to crop up in the brand new series of Doctor Who in 2010, alongside new Doctor Matt Smith. Riversong made her appearance in 'The Library,' a spooky two parter, where she and a team of scientists did battle with the evil Vasha Nerada. Riversong survived the odeal and also had a strange kinship with the Doctor...could this be the lady who he goes on to marry?
An action figure of the character has been made by toy giant Character Options, who are based in China. They have produced over one hundred figures. The toys are made quite well with sturdy enough limbs and are a vast improvement on the toys produced by Dapol in the nineties.
Riversong has a splendidly sculpured head, with a very accurate set of features. Gentle feminine eyes and narrow lips capture actress Alex Kingston's own features nicely. The hair is a pleasing brown colour with a good level of texturing to it, tucked behind her face.
The outfit is not hugely exciting, given that all the scientists wore just plain white spacesuits. There is a good amount of detail around the neck area, where a helmet would sit and down the front of the chest you will see some pleating which gives the costume some much needed movement.
The toy can be posed, with a twisting head, arms which raise and fall and a waist which can be moved as well as bendy legs. I would have her seated on the Doctor's knee, as they romance each other! Riversong remains one of the rarer figures and as such, her price is staying firm on the market. Current boxed prices are coming in at seven to eight pounds, so snap one up if you find it for cheaper, as you will have landed a bargain.
