Phroar! What could be better than finding John Barrowman in your Christmas stocking? Well finding David Tennant for one thing! Barrowman plays Captain Jack Harkness in 'Torchwood' which is a spin off series from 'Doctor Who.' The success of the newer batch of 'Doctor Who' episodes allowed the programme makers to film 'Torchwood.' There is overlap between the shows, but the latter is targetted at a slightly more adult audience.

Character Options have produced over one hundred action figures from the hit shows and a Captain Jack Harkness figure is available to buy. It has been modelled strongly on Barrowman's physique, right from the head down to the feet.

The head has a typical Barrowman expression on it. He looks keen, youthful and handsome and there is that earnest look in the eyes which Barrowman has. I like his hair on the toy, but it does not have quite as much volume as Barrowman's!

His shirt is casual and buttoned up with rolled up sleeves, suggesting a laidback look. The introduction of some braces brighten up his top half and are attached to his grey/blue slacks which hang softly, with a small amount of pleating around the knees and ankle area.

Harkness comes with a little blaster which he can grip in his hand, so you can arrange fight scenes with him and baddies. The figure can be posed at the neck, arms and legs, allowing you to strike visually exciting poses. I must be honest, he is not the most exciting figure in the range and would not be high up on my wish list. The humans are well made, but just not as engaging as the aliens and for this reason, he could lose a point!

The figure is one of the more common ones, so expect to pay about five pounds as new.
