      not bad toys

The Star Wars market is officially flooded. I was in Toys R Us yesterday and the amount of stick was horrendous! A fairly recent addition to the already busy line-up is the Galactic Heroes range. This is a move on from the Hasbro action figure range, taking popular characters from the films and making them into smaller, more squat figures. I am not quite sure what the purpose of these toys is yet. With the action figures, you can move all their limbs and you can choose exactly which figure you desire. With these, you get two figures in a pack who do not necessarily compliment each other. Thus here, we have the pairing of Anakin and a Clone Trooper.

Anakin is interesting, bearing more of a resemblance to the later Anakin, just before he turned into Darth Vader. His face is 'tatooted' or scarred with debris or metal gashes which gives him a robotic and vaguely creepy feel. His torso is muscular and his arms chunky and manly. The long flowing looks are pleasing, if not a little too brown in colour for my liking. Completed by some tight brown slacks, he is interesting to look at and one of the more engaging entries in the Galactic Heroes range.

Anakin is partnered by a Clone Trooper, who looks rather like a Stormtrooper. His simple white uniform with black trim is sleek and the detail on the mask is good. His rifle might be oversized, but I feel this adds to the charm of the toys, as they are meant to look out of proportion.

The toys are not poseable and feel more like the kind of gifts you might get in a box of cereal. The five pound price tag is acceptable and they would make a neat stocking filler for a younger Star Wars fan.
