      super figure

Presenting one of the most curious He Man figures ever to have hit the shelves, this is the not very widely discussed Optikk Space Mutant, part of the newer bath of figures. He has been produced by Mattel and can be bought from the States or the UK, if you shop about online.

Optikk is quite unlike all of the other characters and he looks somewhat out of place, thans to his huge robotic frame. He actually looks more like he belongs in 'Terminator' than 'He Man.'! The toy is very well made with excellent sturdy joints and he stands at about six inches in height.

The focal point of the toy has to be the pulsating eyeball at the top of the end, which glares out at you with an all-knowingness. The body is equally captivating, with a lovely bronzed paint finish giving it some clout and some heavy duty articulation. This figure has some of the best design work on any He Man figure that I have seen. There are wires trailing, circuit boards and bits of plating to explore. Each part of the figure is an exploration, it really is superb.

The toy stands up nicely too and you can pose the head, arms and legs and strike new poses. The weapon is the only letdown, a rather basic looking white rifle. It has been moulded well, but the colour jars with the colour of the figure and I would have rather had a nice bronzed coloured weapon. Despite this flaw, the overall toy is brilliant and the packaging is creative too.

You can buy him at auction sites for a few pounds or find a boxed figure, but boxed figures are quite rare and will set you back over fifteen pounds. A fine specimen and a must for sci fi fans.
