      lovely figure

The Dark Crystal is definitely one of the darkest films to have come from the Henson camp. Made in the eighties with no real humans in the film, the film relied solely on muppets, puppets and animatronics. As it stands, the film has held up well over the years and remains a treat for children and adults alike. One of the best characters in the film is the evil Chamberlain, a Skeksi. He is a bird like creature, who walks around sneering and moaning a lot.

The figure has been made into an action figure by Neca and the toy will delight fans who have long hankered after figures from the film. Chamberlain would always have been my first choice for a figure, purely because he is such a bizarre character. The toy measures a few inches in height and has been made from a plastic resin. There is a little bit of movement with him, though it must be said that his thick overflowing gowns prevent dramatic movement of the limbs.

The head is well designed with his beak like features glaring out at you and he looks sneery and wise. The dinosaur esque face appelas to me and I do like the way his neck cranes forward. The attention to detail on the costume is very well handled. The dusky dirty look of the clothes is carried off very well with some lovely detailing and texturing on the cloak and dramatic sweeping robes that shrowd his body in mystery. While the costume might be fixed, you can appreciate the colours well and he also stands up on his own, making him ideal for display purpose.

The toy can be bought online for about ten pounds and is a superb item for movie buffs. As I love sci fi and fantasy he is right up my street and the presentation of the toy is also effective. Very interesting and also unusual enough to raise eyebrowes.
