A great life like archer that is fun to play with and well made with nice details

We have several of these Papo archers to go with my son's medieval knights and castle sets. The archers come in two colour waves that I am aware of red and blue which seems to be the case for a lot of the Papo figures. The figure itself is very accurate and detailed for example with marks on the arrows for the various feathers, chain mail detailing to the arms and rivets on the helmet. These are fixed model action figures that stay in the same position so there is no scope for the children to set the archers up to fire their arrows in different directions which differs from some of his Playmobil figures that have moving arms to change the position of where they hold the bow.

The figure is posed in the firing position with the bow at full extension ready to be fired. My son likes this pose and frequently sets the archers up around the battlements on his castle ready to fire at the approaching enemy below. With the figures like a lot of his other knights it gives him a great opportunity to use his imagination for play. He often is creating little scenes and acting out fights with them and having a few bowman seems to complement this as he pretends that the arrows have come loose and fired into the enemy below and the archers often can be seen doing a victory dance in his hands.

My son is 4 years old soon to be 5 and during the full year he has nearly had these he has used them most days when he plays knights which from a play for your money point of view is great. The figures themselves are actually fairly robust given how often they have gone into battle. One of the blue pair we have has had the string on its bow snap but a bit of glue soon fixed this and there has been no other snapping off of fingers or arrows at all. Some of the paint on the figures has got slightly chipped and damaged but this I think is more down to how many battles they get into. Whilst say part of the skin colour has come away on the fingers you are still able to make out the majority of the detailing on the figure so an older child may not cause this damage at all.

Overall I would definitely recommend these figures to children over 3 years old younger children whilst maybe enjoying them may find them a choking hazard if bitten as some small bits may come off. The figures are very life like and detailed and overall fairly tough bar some chips of paint and a breaking of one bow. These figures are available from Amazon from around £7.50 and whilst not cheap I think they have been worth it given how often they are played with and how they spark his imagination a four star action figure in our house.
