I love the Smurfs and also own some of their music as well as the figures, sad I know, but the little blue creatures are highly collectable in some quarters and some of the older rarer Smurfs fetch quite good money on auction sites. Each year, Schleich produce a batch of new Smurfs to add to the collection. With a few hundred now lurking, there are plenty to pick from. One of the latest ranges is the movie world of Smurfs. You can get a director, a camereman and a stuntman. But what makes the movies sell are the stars. So here we have the acting Smurf.
He looks like a cross between Charlie Chaplin, Errol Flynn and Clark Gable. The trademark Smurf hat remains intact, as does the bright blue skin, but this Smurf has chosen a smart dinner suit and he looks ready to head to Cannes or take to the red carpet. His face has a smug expression, so perhaps he has just won an award and his natty moustache is cute, if not a bit Hitler esque!
His shoes are a bit clumpy but this adds to the charm of the toy and makes him look quirky. His bandy legs further nod towards Chaplin and the pose has been moulded with care and attention. He wears a little bowler hat and has a cane, which makes me think this is meant to be a Chaplin Smurf. He looks iconic, he looks very different to a lot of the Smurfs thanks to his outfit and he is one of the best ones that I have seen to date. Ideal for display or for playing with, you can buy him online for under the three pound mark. Perfect for film fans and a must for Smurf enthusiasts.
