      amusing toy

Here is a delightful little Smurf item which will please millions of champagne lovers, the Bottle Smurf. One of the latest additions to the ongoing Smurf range and one of the best Smurfs in recent years. Each year, Schleich produce a small handful of new designs and this allows collectors to build up a Smurf village steadily. The great thing is the price, at only two pounds per Smurf, you can afford to build up a healthy collection quickly. I scour online auction sites for the best bargains.

This fellow comes in a fixed pose so you cannot take him away from his bottle, which is a shame, but the lack of movement does not pose much of a problem for me. For younger kids, this could restrict play value I guess. The toy is an inch or so in height and has the trademark colours on his body. The blue seems to have gotten more vibrant in recent years, as the older Smurf designs were a darker blue.

He has his tongue poking out and looks a little worse for wear, so this guy has obviously been at the bottle! The crossed eyes also suggest that he is a somewhat tipsy and the expression is amusing. The best feature here is the bottle, which looks very authentic. Great articulation on the head of the bottle and right down to the label too. Often the accessories lack detail, but this one ticks all the boxes and the bottle looks just like a real life one.

He is one of my favourites because he is just so unusual and the odd ones always appeal to me more. The toy might make a good add-on gift for when you buy someone some champagne and wrap it up; you could stick this chap on top for decoration. A fun filled figure!
