Time for the wedding I feel, as we unveil Mr Groom Smurf. When we say Groom, we mean he is a Bride Groom, not a groom who works with horses! This is one of the newest Smurf figures and part of the Schleich collection. Each year they bring out a selection of cute blue Smurfs, allowing collectors to build a nice steady Smurfing collection. I collected them as a kid and into adulthood and find them unique and fun.
This chap is about an inch in height and is made from a plastic resin. The only drawback with these toys is their lack of movement. The static pose will not allow you to move him at all, but he has made well made with a firm body and joints.
Costume wise, very good here. The smart white suit is very interesting, as opposed to the expected black suit, which a groom would usually opt for. His jacket has a small amount of detail around the chest region and there is a lovely red rose pinned to him, offset with a startling royal blue bowtie. This is going to be an unusual wedding!
Crisp whites and blues have been used on the figure and the paintwork is good and does not come off if you chuck it around or expose it to the elements. I used to play with mine outside and they withstand a lot of wear and tear. He has a good pose though appears to be summoning a taxi, so that looks a little odd. I would have had his arms tucked behind his back.
In terms of desirability, not my favourite, because of the pose, but he would be superb for a gift for newly weds or you could use him to decorate a wedding cake. Expect to pay two pounds for him online.
