Peace perfect peace is the gift of Christ Our Lord, or something like that. This Smurf has just brought back memories of a certain school hymn! One of the latest additions to the Schleich Smurfing flock is this curious chap. Each year Schleich produce a handful of new Smurfs, allowing collectors to build up their Smurf supplies gradually. Plus, they only cost about two pounds a piece, so there is no excuse for not owning at least one! I collected them as a kid and that got me hooked on them.
Made from a plastic resin, this Smurf has no moveable limbs and is in a fixed pose. While this might restrict the play value, it also means he stands up to wear and tear. My older Smurfs have worn well through the years and none of them ever broke.
Good strong colours on this guy, with lovely blues and crisp whites intact and also some nice use of yellows and reds and greens. The clothing is minimal though, because he is meant to be a new age Smurf. Just a brief loincoth to cover his modesty! His expression is one of a hippyness nature, he looks like he has had too much of whatever it is he is smoking! I love the crossed eyes on this Smurf!
His pipe is satisfying and chunky and he also sports some curious regalia around his hat, which calls to mind 'Dances With Wolves.' Overall, the figure is pretty sweet and I like the face, though I feel the pose could have been even more slouched to emphasise his state of mind. He can be bought online for about one pound and would be an ideal pocket money gift for kids or an amusing birthday item for a smoker.
