      odd chap

The Smurf collection is ether something you get into with a real seriousness, otherwise you will be left floundering at the first hurdle. There are a lot of Smurfs to collect and some go back years, making collecting them a difficult and arduous task. For those of us patient enough to build a steady Smurf collection, it can be highly rewarding, as they are relatively cheap, fairly easy to obtain online and nice and small to display.

There exists what can best be described as an Indian tribe of Smurfs and another addition to this line-up is the Raindancing Smurf. He is obviously the Smurf designed to bring rain to their village, though his stance does not look like he doing a dance, more like he yawning or about to pick his nose. I would have moulded his legs further apart and done more with the arms, maybe aloft.

The colours are great though, with that lovely blue grabbing the attention and a striking little yellow piece of cloth covering his proverbials. There is a neat hat as well with some subtle banding around it, which gives it a unique edge. He sports a little warpaint in his face which is a good touch.

I am not so sure about his face, with a button like mouth supposedly echoing the raindance call and slitty looking eyes, making him look half asleep! Luckily, he is holding some sort of axe so that should wake him up nicely, though he is holding it at a very odd angle, which looks painful for him! So despite these bizarre features, he is an interesting chap and should cost no more than a couple of pounds to buy new online. Would I say he is a priority buy? No. But a neat asset to the busy collection.
