Who's this handsome beast of a man then? Why, it's Panthro from the cartoon show 'Thundercats.' Panthro was the strong but kind hearted warrior of the group. He was all about physical presence and stamina but was also loyal and ready to help his friends out when they were in trouble. Toymaker LJN made a toy of this character in the late eighties.

Panthro is a very satisfying and chunky figure, made from plastic with a head that rotates and arms and legs that also move. This allows new poses to be created. I had my figure years ago but you can buy loose versions for a few pounds online. To get a fully kitted figure with accessories, you might pay nearer ten pounds or more.

The toy has a great colour scheme with a pleasing paint job all over and vivid blue boots. My favourite part was the studded swimsuit thing he wears, I always found it rather kinky! The underpant area is snug and offset with the Thundercat logo which looks cool.

Panthro has a stern face and he looks ready to eat you. I feel his anger might upset sensitive kids, but he is quite harmless really. Watch out for his scary nunchucks which he uses. Attached on a chain, he can use this weapon to swing at enemies. If you buy Panthro, be sure to get his best mate Tigra, they work well together.

This is a well made robust toy that will withstand being thrown around. One of the sturdiest action figures about, the LJN range are all very well made and will provide hours of play fun for kids. Likewise, sci fi fans will want to own this cool character and he looks mean as a display piece.
