      a fine figure

The name is a bit of a giveaway here as to what this chap is all about. As you might have guessed, he is a rat! He is a character from the hit television show 'Thundercats.' You could be forgiven for not remembering Ratar-O because he was not one of the main villians, making only sporadic appearances in the cartoon series. He was deemed unique enough to be made into an action figure though by LJN.

The toy can be bought now loose from auction sites for a mere pound or two, whereas rarer boxed toys will exchange hands for over ten pounds. The six inch figure has been from plastic with a delightful sturdy frame. A robust body with a lumpy chest give him stability and also helps him stand up to harsh play scenarios. His arms and legs can be bent and you can aldo turn his head. LJN were always conscious about making stiff jointed toys which prolongs their lifespan and this pleases me as a collector.

A wonderful ratlike face with brown skin and beady eyes, complimented with some pokey out ears and whiskers give him that rodent look. The face boasts impressive detail and he is one of the more interesting figures facially. I am not so keen on the black and orange catsuit he wears, he looks like Anneka Rice on 'Treasure Hunt'! The colours might be hideous, but they are accurate enough and there is some nice texturing on his torso. He does have some chunky rat like hands and feet though which I think look spot on with their claws just poking out.

The figure is completed with two killer knives, both can be held in his hands and are satisfyingly made with a shimmering silver effect. Overall, a well built toy, a great face and a fun item for kids to play with or for collectors to own.
