      Very helpful

      decent figure overall

Who remembers the nasty old Safari Joe from the show 'Thundercats'? He was not in the show as much as the likes of Mumm Ra or Lion O, but he did make a few showings over the series. Quite an interesting bad guy, purely because he was one of the only few human characters in the programme. From a collector's point of view, this makes him pretty intriguing. I remember being excited about owning this figure, purely because he did not look like a monster!

The toy dates back to the late eighties and is a six inch tall plastic figure. Like with all LJN figures, the focus is on a sturdy well made figure. The joints are steadfast and the limbs nice and tight. You can twist his head all the way around and also raise the arms and legs to create new poses.

Joe has a balding head and very evil glaring eyes which might startle much younger children. He looks like the demonic uncle you wish you never had! His moustache gives him a militant look and his whole face is stern and menacing.

Joe's costume is a basic sort of safari attire. There is a small amount of articulation on the chest area, though it is not that impressive. LJN have succeeded in capturing the safari colours well though, with the lovely khaki effect throughout and some big brown boots. One of the best features of the toy has to be the overblown weapon. A mammoth sized gun of meaty proportions is an eyecatcher and can be gripped in either hand.

If you want t buy this toy you will pay about two pounds loose at auction or several more if you manage to find a boxed figure online.
