The evil SS-Slythe is a character from the hit cartoon show 'Thundercats.' He has to 'esses' at the start of his name because he has trouble speaking! I shall refer to him though as Slythe. A suitable slimy sounding name for a suitably slimy thing. I am not sure what he is, a cross between a toad, an orc and something beastly that lives under bridges!
The figure dates back to the nineties and is made from a plastic resin. Like with all the LJN figures, a superb mould with excellent joints and a lovely sturdy feel to the toy. The plastic is good quality and the figure is bulky and heavy. He feels great in the palm of the hand and weighty, so you know he has been well made. The joints are all stiff too, but you can twist the head, lift the arms and bend his stubby legs to varying degrees.
The face is sneering and he has one eye slitted, giving you a watchful glare. Some great texturing on his body shows the rippled green skin with pits and holes all over, yuck! The level of detail is impressive for this early figure in the series. The colour scheme relies on greens and browns mainly, but the colour choices come off with aplomb and compliment the overall look of the toy, as well as echoing the character from the show nicely.
Slythe's weapon is a talking point, it is a really chunky axe. It looks weather beaten and well worn and the articulation on this accessory is stunning, definitely one of the best action figure weapons out there. He can hold this in either hand to attack his victims with.
Slythe can be bought loose for a few pounds, but you might struggle to get a boxed figure these days as they are in short supply. A very well made, six foot tall figure with great detail and a wonderful mould too!
