Jet Airways
by ceebee27
I flew from London to Delhi and back again with Jet Airways in June 2012. Check in in London took ages as they didn't seem to have many staff on the check in desks, which was annoying, but I still got through security with plenty of time to spare. The check in staff were very friendly and efficient once at the desk.
I booked ... with Jet Airways as they were the cheapest option when I booked the flights so I wasn't expecting anything amazing. The seats were comfy enough and I had plenty of space, although at only 5 foot 3 tall, I never really find space too much of a problem on planes.
The food on my flight out was nice, much better than I was expecting and better than lots of plane food I've eaten in the past. However on the way back, the food was very bland and I didn't really enjoy it at all which was disappointing considering how good it had been on the way out.
The air stewards/stewardesses were friendly and helpful, providing extra drinks if people wanted them. The in flight entertainment was great with a choice of hollywood or bollywood. It had a range of recent films and the kids choice was good too. I also discovered how great bollywood is!
Once we'd landed and through passport control, my bag arrived quickly and with no annoyance of having to wait around for ages before the bags were put on the conveyor belt.
Overall, I'd say Jet Airways offer great value flights with good service and comfortable seats. Read the complete review |

South African Airways

Flew 4 flights with South African Airways this summer and found the service to be great. The flight was 3 hours late departing Heathrow, but i believe South African Airways did all they could so that the flight wasn't cancelled all together. The plane flying to Heathrow from South Africa was cancelled due to a door fault on the plane. ... South African Airways sourced another of their planes from South Africa and flew it onto London so to prevent cancelling the flight. The late departure meant that i missed my connecting flight in Johannesburg, but the ground staff booked me onto another flight easily.
On board i was in economy class and found the leg room to meet my needs - i am tall (5"10) and i had enough room to stretch my legs. The refreshments on board included soft drinks, beers, lagers and a selection of South African wines which was a nice touch. The crew were very accommodating and served extra drinks when you requested them. The evening meal seem very similar in size and quality to what i have had with other airlines, but i found the breakfast to be a great improvement on other airlines. There was a hot serving of eggs and sausage, with a croissant and fruit & yoghurt on the side. On other airlines i have found the breakfast to be cold maybe just include a bread roll and yoghurt.
The personalised screens were great providing a range of entertainment such as films and games. A lot of the films were very recent and included films that hadn't even been released on dvd yet. My favourite aspect of the personal tv screens, was to watch live feed of the plane in motion. A camera was fixed to the back of the plane meaning you could see the whole plane and the ground below in the sky. This was particular spectacular when approaching landing. However this feature was not available on return to the UK - the plane was a different type and so had a different entertainment system installed.
The crew were all really friendly on board and met your requests as required. The captain even alerted us to look out of the windows in order to see the snow on the mountains below us as we approached Cape Town.
All in all a good relaxing flight. I definitely fly with them again! Read the complete review |

easyJet

Myself and my darling wife recently flew with Easy Jet to Athens and then returned from Corfu with them. The prices were low, but as other people point out the baggage at the end adds to the cost. But I actually found that to our advantage.
Packing the night before we left for Athens I realised the my darling was taking loads of ... luggage and I was able to go online and add 3 kg's of extra luggage to our booking. Now I'm pretty sure had we booked with other carriers we would have had to make do with our original amount of luggage, therefore causing me and Mrs Wonderful to pack in peace. While we were away I was able to repeat the addition of the 3 kg's.
The flight's both left on time and arrived early, with absolutely no fuss.
We also booked 'Speedy Boarding' for both journey's, which I thought was a wise move, enabling us to sit together, without having to race to the aircraft. I notice that easy Jet have introduced pre booking seats, which I think is a great idea and so much better than speedy boarding, because we could not believe that even though people had booked speedy boarding they still raced to get on first, which amused myself and the gorgeous one greatly.
I really did everything about the whole process of booking and the complete travel experience very enjoyable. Read the complete review |
