... on the evening of 22nd December 2009. Checkin and boarding were uneventful and the plane left the departure gate a few minutes late. Just before takeoff the pilot announced that there was a problem with the landing lights at Nairobi and we were returning to the gate. This was the last intelligible piece of information received from Kenya Airways - what happened after that was totally shambolic! We were returned to the departure lounge, but at no stage was any official announcement made as to what Kenya Airways intended to do. It was left to individuals to approach the manager to try to find out what was happening, and even she eventually ran away! Apart from a sing...

... went to Tanzania in February of this year and took a Kenya Airways flight via Nairobi to get there. We decided on Kenya airways simply because it was cheaper than Virgin - BIG mistake and one which I will never repeat. We booked our tickets through Opodo and they cost us £615 certainly not cheap but the cheapest we could find. Out flight was supposed to leave Heathrow at 19.00 on Friday and arrive at 06.30am the next day. Because the layover in Nairobi was so long (11 hours!) we decided to do a bit of sightseeing and stay over at a hotel to try to get some sleep before or flight out at 18.10 the next night.......However.... This was not what Kenya airways had in mind...

... read Mark Beer s review of Kenya Airways and it reminded me of the truly miserable flight I suffered at their hands. The flight out from Heathrow wasn t too bad but the return flight was dreadful. In spite of asking for (and being told I had been allocated) a seat with "extra" legroom - (I am 6 4" tall and built like a rugby player), when I actually got on the plane I found my seat actually had less room than most of the other seats. So little space, in fact, that after half an hour I could bear it no longer.
