Swiss ... the last 6 years I have been visiting Switzerland on numerous occasions. I went there either flying from London, or from Frankfurt. I have nearly always used Swissair because they take off from City airport, which is very close to where I work, in Canary Wharf, and not too far from where I live too, meaning that I save plenty of time compared to the journeys I do from Heathrow. Swissair was bankrupt few years ago and was rescued by the Government, this was a major shame for the Swiss people. Having used only European flights, I cannot comment on their long haul flights. Swiss ... 6 months I was told I would begin working with our clients based in Switzerland, I recalled that their national airline had gone bust! This airline is now called Swiss. It was a major embarassment for the Government! I normally fly with Swiss to both Zurich and Geneve (I go to Malpensa with British Airways and then drive to Lugano from there) Swiss fly from Heathrow and from City. I prefer city and I book my flights in and out of City Airport. the flight to Geneve is not very busy in business, while the one to Zurich is normally full both in business and economy, at least in the evening when I normally fly. Swiss ... the official airline of Switzerland, was the dominating airline of the 1970’s and 1980’s. Everyone wanted to travel with Swissair for its utmost punctuality and excellent service. I can never forget my first experience with Swissair when I flew with them on a flight from Dakar to Geneva in 1972. I was only 8 years old and if I remember correctly the plane was a propeller engine one. I can never forget the excellent service I received, even at that time, being an un-accompanied minor. One other thing that always struck me was the huge white cross on the tail of the plane and all the toys and gifts that we always seemed to get. I continued to use...
