Advantages: Great on board service, useful connections and frequent flyer programme provided by Lufthansa
Disadvantages: Not as value competitive as the low-costs
Adria Airways are the national airline of Slovenia, the northernmost of the former Yugoslavian nations. Established as a charter airline in the sixties, Adria have enjoyed a slow but steady growth to become the Slovenian flag carrier.
If you're travelling to or from Slovenia, you'll probably have a choice of Adria over a low cost airline or competing European flag carrier. Perhaps most important to your choice of Adria over other airlines will be the fact that it serves a large number of major European capital cities, and in most cases serves those cities' principal airports. These include Frankfurt & Munich, Amsterdam-Schipol and Paris-CDG. In the UK they serve Manchester and London Gatwick.
For frequent flyers or business travellers, Adria is a regional member of the Star Alliance, the largest airline alliance. Their regional status is sponsored by Lufthansa, whose Miles&More frequent flyer programme is provided for Adria passengers. If you carry a frequent flyer card with most Star Alliance airlines you can earn and burn air miles with Adria. Lufthansa also provide most of Adria's long haul connections through their German hubs.
Adria has a very young fleet or Airbus A320 and Bombardier C-Series jets. Both are extremely pleasant aircraft to fly on, and the on-board service is extremely hospitable. Beverage and snack service is included, and is delivered by extremely friendly and knowledgeable crew. Their home airport at Ljubljana Joze Pučnik is compact and easy to use.
Summary: Enjoyable and useful connections from Slovenia to Europe and the Middle East
