Advantages: Pleasant staff, very comfortable seats and good leg room
Disadvantages: Baggage charges are quite high
I recently flew from Belfast to Barcelona with Aer Lingus and would recommend them very highly. We booked through a travel agent so I was quoted a total price for the flights rather than searching myself and having the charges added on so I was not too disappointed.
Baggage
Aer Lingus only allows for 15kgs of luggage although in both airports we found the check in assistants were not very strict even though both mine and my partner's cases were nearly 20kg. They also state that only one piece of hand luggage could be carried on but I had two with no questions asked.
Check-In
Check-in staff were pleasant at both sides but I did find in Barcelona they were very strict about times and we were not allowed to check-in until exactly two and a half hours before the flight was due to leave despite there being people attending the desk. Security was also more lax in Barcelona as the attendant did not ask any of the usual questions about packing the bag yourself etc.
Onboard
I found that there was quite a lot of leg room in comparison to other airlines and the seats were very comfortable. There is a mouldable headrest which gives much better support to the neck and allows for a more comfortable nap en route. The staff were very friendly and attentive and were more than happy to serve food and drinks after they had finished with the trolley. They were also very helpful to passengers who needed assistance with bags.
Overall I really enjoyed my flight with Aer Lingus and have booked two more flights with them since. They certainly have a satisfied customer here. After booking the recent flights myself I found that they do have a lot of hidden charges and the baggage fees are especially high! Still a high recommendation from me.
Summary: Aer Lingus flying high in my opinions
