In January 2004 we flew from Teesside Airport to Grenoble (France) (flight AMM 591C) where we were going skiing for a week. Ok, it was dissapointing that we got a 4 hour delay on the outward journey, but considering it happens most times I fly, I've began to accept that its just a fact of life, and that we all can be late and things break down! We were issued with £5.00 vouchers to get a meal from the food court, but we went to the Airport Bar which did bar meals, and much better value for money! Finally when the plane came, and had been cleaned out, we boarded and I was really impressed to see that the old dingy interior that air 2000 used to have, had been done away with. They had introduced a bright and fresh cabin, with jade (first choice green) leatherete seats. The crew were very bright in their barbie pink uniforms, they looked great though! The aircraft was a boeing 757 which seemed brand new, as it had smaller and more swish bulk head lockers. We were served with a choice of hot crusty rolls, bacon and tomato, or scrambled egg and cheese. My sister didn't want hers, so i was fortionate to try one of each flavour. They were really nice. We were served with tea, coffee and squash. The bar service came before the food though! Landed smoothly into Grenoble, earlier than scheduled, with the delay and were met Petra, our fabulous hotel rep, shame I couldn't say the same about the hotel! On the retutrn journey, (flight AMM 591D) we departed Grenoble earlier than scheduled, and was a little dissapointed that we were served with the same kind of sandwiches like the outbound flight! Never the less they were nice and I had my sisters sandwich too! When we landed into Teesside, I didnt want to get off the plane, I love flying, and the seats weren't too bad for economy! I'd definantely recomend Air 2000 / First Choice Airways, they are super!

This is an extract of a letter sent to Air 2000 recently. My husband, was taken ill shortly after take-off. He appeared to faint and the crew asked if there was a doctor on board. A nurse, responded to their call and she attempted to take his blood pressure. She said that it was virtually impossible to do this with the stethoscope & cuff provided and I heard her say to the cabin crew supervisor that it would be advisable to have BP monitors so that the readings could be read rather than relying on the stethoscope. The supervisor replied saying that the Air 2000 crews had been asking for these for a long time but that their request had fallen on deaf ears but she would again put this in her report. At exactly the same time a passenger in the row in front of us also fainted & I wonder whether there was a drop in cabin pressure which caused this. When my husband regained consciousness he was violently sick & the nurse suggested that oxygen be given to him. This was done immediately but his sickness continued for the rest of the journey and oxygen was administered throughout. I should say at this time that the crew did everything they could to help both my husband & myself and radioed ahead for a paramedic to come on board when we arrived in Tenerife. He was then transferred to the Medical Centre at the airport; he was given a cardiogram & had his blood pressure taken and was pronounced fit although still being sick. He was given an anti - sickness injection and was wheeled up to the Arrivals where a First Choice Rep told me that I would have to go & get our luggage! However, she must have seen the state I was in and eventually went & retrieved it for me. She then took us to the Taxi rank and we went to our apartment. What a great start to our holiday! Fortunately, after a couple of hours sleep he was feeling much better and it looked as though we were going to enjoy our holiday after all. Then, the fiasco started! 1
. Monday ? 23rd. Feb: We received a message form the Rep that he wanted to talk to us &, he said that he had been told that we must pay for the oxygen used on the plane. Fine, we said, do you want our credit card? I will just check again with the office, he said & he returned from the phone saying that there would not be a charge as it was an emergency. Very generous we thought. 2. Tuesday ? 24th. Feb: The Rep told us that my husband would need to get a ?Fit to Fly? certificate from a doctor & gave us a card with the address on it. We got in a taxi, and off we went to the main hospital in Las Americas only to be told that it was a bank holiday & we would have to return the next day. However, the translator could not understand why we had been asked to get a certificate as he had not been hospitalised and had not received any treatment other than the anti- sickness injection. 3. Wednesday ? 25th. Feb: We again spoke with the Rep and he rang his office & told us to go to the English-speaking doctor just around the corner. This we did, Mike was examined, pronounced fit to fly & the certificate was faxed to the office. The doctor did say that he was obliged to complete the certificate in his own language but would add, ?fit to fly? in English to avoid any doubt. 4.The next thing was a phone call from our daughter saying that the Travel Agents with whom we had booked the holiday had received a call from Air 2000 saying that we didn?t have the money to pay for the oxygen! Unbelievable. Who said we didn?t have any money? Why was this call made to a third party? Surely a breach of confidentiality & contrary to ABTA?s code of conduct? Not to mention VERY embarrassing for us! I rang First Choice & was told that we DID have to pay for the oxygen but Air 2000 would contact us when we got home. She also said that the certificate wasn?t valid, as it didn?t state that oxygen would not be required on the return journey. By this time we were b
oth so stressed by the whole situation & worried that we would not be able to get home that the holiday was totally ruined. 5. Thursday ? 26th.Feb: I?m afraid that this day is lost in total confusion as by this time I was so depressed that it was difficult to keep track of events. All I can remember is receiving another call form a First Choice Rep asking us to ring Air 2000 in the UK. What for we asked. Not sure said Louise. Well, will you ring them we said & give them our credit card number & perhaps that will stop all this nonsense over £50. Why, Oh why, had this not been done in the first place? We had a further conversation regarding the certificate & were told that it had been translated and that Air 2000 now accepted it. Big sigh of relief. 6. Friday ? 27th. Feb: Our last day. Got up, started to pack when the phone went. Mike was out & I can?t tell you how I felt when I answered it. It was Joanna from the Resort Office saying that she had translated the certificate for the office in the UK & it wasn?t valid as it didn?t say, ?No oxygen required?. We would have to return to the doctor & get this put on the certificate. But it says fit to fly surely that meant that he was fit to fly I said & broke down in tears. My husband returned about 10 minutes later & when I told him he was furious; we were just about to leave & go back to the doctors when the phone rang again ? Joanna to say, certificate HAD BEEN ACCEPTED. Everything now all right! This was about 9.50 am. on the day we were due to leave. A whole week of torment & stress. Totally unnecessary turmoil & stress due to a combination of · Incompetence · Lack of communication. · Poor standard of service. Still, it was all over now, all we had to do was get on the plane; or so we thought. When we got to the check-in desk & my husband was asked, again, if he required oxygen. No he said. We showed the Fit to Fly certificate & was then asked again by the translator
do you need oxygen? She then asked a Rep to get the certificate copied AGAIN before we were given our boarding cards. Finally, we boarded the plane only to be confronted by the flight supervisor in front of a plane full of passengers & asked to sign a disclaimer. It was nothing less than blackmail as, if he didn?t sign it, we would have been put off the plane. Not to mention the additional embarrassment caused by the pilot who apologised over the intercom for the delay due to some paperwork being completed! We felt completely humiliated. Finally, this morning we were told by our Travel Agents that Air 2000/First Choice had telephoned them yesterday asking for our insurance details! They refused to give this information so at least they adhered to the Data Protection Act. This whole unfortunate episode was made a thousand times worse by the attitude of Air 2000 /First Choice over a paltry sum of £50 & a Fit to Fly certificate & I find it difficult to believe that there are no clear procedures for this eventuality but, if there are, why were they not followed? Update - 3 weeks later I am still waiting for an explanation &/or apology. The complaint has been passed to 4 different people & I am not happy!

I have only flown once with Air 2000 on a 4 hour flight to Gran Canaria from Birmingham. On this route they use the B757-200 which is a moderately sized aircraft. The first thing we noticed when we got on board was that there was very little legroom (i'm 6 foot 2) and all though I appreeciate that I may be above average height my relatives who where several inches shorter had the same problem. The entertainment was good with the ususl tv and radio channels. However, to enjoy these you needed a pair of headphones that they sold at a reasonable price. The meal was very nice (airline food is certainly improving) both in terms of quality and quantity. The crew were always friendly and helpful. The flight took off and arrived on time so all in all it was a good flight. On the way back the experience was similar however, we had clearly got the short straw having an old crate of an aircraft. Even the stewardess said she had not seen the colour of the seats before. One of the main problems was that the entertainment system at certain seats were not working and it is not fair to pay for headphones and not be able to use them. However, again the flight was on time. I would recommend this airline to anyone and would certainly not hesitate to use them again.

I flew with my parents(I am a teen) on the Bristol-Corfu and Corfu-Bristol route for a two weeks holiday. It was the best airline by miles. (Not plane miles!) The Planes Both Planes were A321 planes which were really spotless. Although I am a plane fan I didn't look at the reg- silly me! Their planes have a great colourful pattern on them. The Seats Well it was the same as all the other charter airlines-MyTravel, Britannia, JMC the lot! It was slightly cramped although they did offer Premium on the A321(the A321 and B767 only have premium)we didn't think about having it. The seats were in the colourful Air 2000 patterns like on every product of theirs! Other Comfort After take off they sold Air 2000 comfort packs with toothbrush, toothpaste, neck pillow, tissues, eyeshades, a pen and more and were at a great value £2.50 price. We've got loads! Cabin Staff The Cabin staff on both journeys were very down to earth and pleasant and treated you like a customer. Meals Nice! Thai chicken was served outwards but I had a kids meal which you do have to pre-book. The return journey was an early morning flight (a very early flight!)so some sandwiches were served. This was good because who wants a big meal at three in the morning on a plane especially? The trays were again colurful! Drinks and snacks The tea was served in large, plastic typhoo cups which were better. Coffee was in plastic Kenco cups. The bar service was very frequent so if you were thirsty or hungry then don't fret! Entertainment After take off they sold headphones and the adaptors were not needed as the socket needed only one pin. The headphones were £3.00 and were stylish. Most planes make you pay if you want them and if you don't have to then you have to leave them. Air 2000 alongside others lets you take them home as they are airline souveniers. The audio system was great. I listened to pop and i
t had the latest pop songs to get y ou in the holiday mood. Listening to them now brings a feeling of holiday around me! The movie outbound was Bend it like Beckham while outbound was Ice Age. There were no TV programmes but big deal. The magazine-distant shores had articles about holidays, the world and air 2000's fleet, entertainment and services. Passing the time away was easy with air 2000. Shopping There is a magazine for their shopping and everything was reduced to half price. They come around with this before landing. Safety This was taken to great detail. They showed the safety briefing and had a safety card as all airlines are required to have or they will not exist! It is legal (as you may know). Air 2000 is a great airline. Was I just lucky or was it something that the majority of people will find on an air2000. All the people that I have spoken to have said that this is a great airline. Some people may find it is not but in my opinion you are almost certain to enjoy your flight with air2000. Don't forget that they have Premium on SOME of their shorthaul lflights operated by the A321. If you go longhaul then they have it always on their B767 aircaft. If you go on an A320 or B767 then don't worry. Standard Class is or should be a great time. If Air 2000 is reading this then may I say, "thanks a lot!!!!!!" Air 2000 are certainly the best! MyTravel are good also mind! Thank You for reading this long review. Sorry if it wasted time of yours! If possible please leave a comment at the end if you are a member of dooyoo.

We went with Air 2000 to Greece. On the way out to Crete in Greece we took off 20 minutes early but on the return journey we left 10 minutes late. With Air 2000 you do not get a lot of leg room. We felt quite cramped. We could buy ear phones though and watch films which was nice. We found that the cabin staff were kept very busy and probably had too much to do as when they spoke to people they were very blunt and not at all customer friendly. Several times we found that they ignored some people that wanted help. The meal, was served very quickly after take off, consisted of a curry which was not very nice. When it came to tea and coffee the cabin crew went down the aisle very quickly asking if you wanted it but did hardly wait for the reply. A lot of people missed out on their tea or coffee as they could not even catch their eye after passing. They did not miss much though as the tea was cold. I know the cabin staff had a lot to do in a little time but a bit slower and a smile would have been nice! We were given though very good details of what and where we were flying over and the temperature. When we all departed it did seem that the crew were very pleased to get rid of everyone and all the passengers were well behaved so goodness knows how they would have glared at not so well behaved customers. I do feel that Air 2000 are not the best to fly with.

Last year my family and I booked a holiday to Cyprus. We booked the holiday through First Choice/Eclipse and paid £1,800 for it. I suffer from deep vein thrombosis and before I parted with my hard earned cash, I asked First Choice to ensure I had the front seat of the plane in order to keep my legs out and circulate the blood. I was promised because of this I would have the front seat and yes, on the way out my family and I had the seats marked A1, A2, A3. No problems. However on the return journey even though I was allocated the front seats upon checking in, I didnt get it. Some young very able bodied teenager and her friends were already there. I complained to the trolley dolley on the air 2000 who did nothing. Saying "sorry" was not enough. I had no choice but to sit there. So low and behold after a few days back, my vein started to swell and turned very red. The pain was awful. I knew it wasn't thrombosis due to injecting fragmin. It was however, thrombo phlebitis, a blood clot in the surface vein. I was placed on antibiotics to clear up the bacteria in the vein and had to wear support tights (yuk) for months. Air 2000 apologised and admitted it was their fault but will not offer me any form of compensation as they claim the air regulation laws have changed and they are not liable to give me anything. I have tried to fight them without getting a lawyer involved (due to the costs) but they will not offer me anything except a humble apology. I will have to have the offending vein stripped as soon as my baby is born in October as it will always re-occur. So be warned, Air 2000 and their cattle class system should be avoided at all costs.

My husband and I flew to Minorca with our 3 children aged 6, 4 and3 at the time, in Sept 2001. We were quite happy with the service that we got. We boarded on time to clean plane. We took off on time. We did find the leg room was not enough, but we also remembered that we werent flying with British Airways and didnt expect an armchair. After all, you pay a basic price, expect a basic service. We had a 6.30am flight which meant getting the kids up at 3.00am, but, that also meant arriving at our destination at 10.30am with still the whole day to get out and about. I would recommend an early morning flight to anyone with children. I do not see it as a disadvantage. Breakfast on the plane was eggs and saugages etc.. which all 3 off my children picked at (thats what kids do!!!) it didnt mean the food wasnt suitable. The children got there rucksacks which kept them occupied, although they didnt really need it as the flight itself kept them occupied. We landed on time with a comfortable flight, a basic service and nice welcome. We paid a basic price, got a basic service and were quite happy. In actual fact, we are leaving to go to the airport in about 3 hours time, and going to the same destination and quite happily, using the same airline. If I feel any different on this flight, be rest assured, i will let you know......

                    • "Economy syndrome"

After having our accomodation booked we were looking for a low cost flydrive to Florida and had the opportunity to fly Air 2000. We left Birmingham Airport on Saturday 11th August. Our travel agent had forgotten to order my vegetarian meal, however the air hostesses were very accomodating and made sure that I was supplied with a spare meal. We were flying in a party of 8, four adults and four children - varying from 11, 13, 15 and 18. The 11 year old was kept occupied with a colouring book, and taking great pride in her Air 2000 bag! The radio stations were of a very good mixed variety and provided adequate entertainment, however perhaps longer programmes would have been better on such a long flight. Comedy channel was superb. The return flight as somewhat, odd. A flighty to Manchester had been cancelled. It was admitted to me that the whereabouts (i.e. locations, hotels etc) of passengers were known and the fact that this flight was being cancelled had been known a few days in advance. However only passengers who had phoned and checked to see if thier flight was still leaving on time had been told of the delay of two maybe three days. Passengers were queing and being told, whilst waiting in line, to open thier suitcases and take out what they needed. Their bags were taken in preparation of the flight as they were being taken to alternative accomodation. The fact remains that they knew where these passengers were, had prior warning and yet did not give them warning. What a waste of resources. It appears to me that this new airline simple needs to learn the business a little. Yes mishaps happen and my experience may have been a one off, but I doubt it. My advice with any flight, phone to check flight details before you leave your hotel/home.

For New Year I was jetting off to Alicante. Looking around at prices and being misled by many adverts I found a bargain flight with Air 2000. I took the route Gatwick to Alicante and the flight time is around 2 hours and 30 minutes. The flight left and arrived on time. Due to passing out and sleeping most of the way there I had a breakfast that was of typical poor airline food, it was hot but so is sludge if you cook it. On the way back we checked in and found my friend and I had been put in seats far away from each other so we had to sit by ourselves this was a great way to start the flight. The flight was around 2 hours and was again on time. As I walked through I grabbed a free copy of the Independent and sat at my seat and began to read. Being awake on the flight this time I had a Pepsi from the bar that was going through, to my dismay this cost me 50p this is shocking for a flight that cost £162 I expected this from Go or Easyjet but not a chartered flight. To watch the TV you had to buy headphones, which wasn’t worth the money just to watch rubbish like Coronation Street or the news. 10 minutes later the dinner was served and it was sausage and mash, edible but the sticky cake wouldn’t fall out if you turned it upside down in its dish. The airhostess serving the Tea got all the way to my seat then lights flicked on down the isle like a runway. Yes you guessed it the blonde airhostess had a pot of coffee and not tea which was really amusing to me. Another amusing entertaining thing the air hostesses did was flight shopping and needing to find a calculator to work out how much 2 pounds was in pesetas, when the exchange rate was 285 pesetas to the pound. In all this is a package holiday flight and I paid way over the odds for what I got and at other times of the year I am sure the price will reflect this.

Air 2000 are an excellent airline. Having travelled several times in their aircraft, and with many other airlines, I can honestly say that we have never come across better service than we have had aboard Air 2000 planes. The cabin crew aboard Air 2000 flights seem to really enjoy their jobs, as nothing ever appears to be too much trouble for them and they smile without having to force it. I am a vegetarian and we very often take last minute bookings, which invariably means that there has not been time for the airline to be informed that a veggie meal is required. Most airlines will endeavour to find you a spare but not usually with the same determination as Air 2000 cabin crew, you would think it was they themselves who were facing going without a meal! Usually it is a case of air stewards or stewardesses saying that if there is one left over you can have it, but if not it’s tough basically. Okay, so there are only so many aboard, and if others are ordered no one would expect them to be given up, but there are ways of saying it nicely and ways of not doing. Entertainment aboard Air 2000 planes is also first rate. All of the latest films are available on longer European and long haul flights and a good selection of comedy and drama programmes on shorter flights, as well as music channels to suit all tastes. Head sets are available at £3 each in order for you to hear the entertainment but once purchased they are yours to keep and use as often as you like. Adaptors for your own headphones can be bought at the cost of just £1. In general, Air 2000 is a relatively inexpensive airline to travel with too. To find such wonderful service at such low prices has to be rare and so I would rate them as top airline in my opinion.

I flew Air2000 (first choice) to Faro, Portugal on a flight only basis. It was pretty run of the mill, nothing special, a typical holiday flight in fact. I was a bit disgusted with the standards of cleanliness....dirty cutlery and rubbish left stuffed down the seats and on the floor from the meal on the plane's previous flight. Cabin crew seemed unconcerned to the point of "So....?" Another issue I raised with cabin crew was my seat, It would not stay upright, essential for take off and landing, and for the passenger behind trying to eat their meal. Again it was "so...?" Despite winning the inflight raffle of a half bottle of fizzy wine (maybe they rigged it to shut me up) I wrote to First Choice who just said in so many words....well no-one else complained so there were obviously no problems. Yes I could have taken it further I guess, but whats the point if they don't listen. I will just carry on my one woman crusade to spread the word that I certainly won't be using Air2000 or first choice again. Yes, this was a no frills flight but surely that doesn't mean health and safety should be compromised.

I am an experienced flier and have flown on many airlines both scheduled and charter. In recent times, most of the charter airlines have bucked up their ideas, and try to make the experience pleasureable. Air 2000 IMHO has failed, and should be avoided by customers who wish to be treated appropriately. The flight in question was to Malta and back, off season, midweek from Gatwick. 1. The gate offered was the furthest gate available in the north terminal. It took 20 minutes to go from the general area just to the gate. On return it was the same, adding lots of time on to the process. Less able passengers were resting by the wayside, weeping, and asking if it was much further to go. 2. Seating on their aircraft is at maximum capacity. Anyone over 5ft 8ins will find their leg room very restricted. OK if your not. 3.Catering is quite the worst I have had in recent years. Their ideal of a main meal was a miniscule portion of reconstitued sausage and mash.Dreadful Dreadful Dreadful. Drinks was on a pay for item. Service was cut short so that duty free's could be sold. 4.In-flight entertainment (I suppose I should be pleased there was any) was old re-runs of 'Yes, Minister', and there was a charge of £3.50 for access to earphones. No film. 5.Delays on the return leg were no only unacceptable from the insecure airport in Valetta, but there was no information. The flight before ours was delayed 12 hours. Ours was delayed 2.5 hours, but we departed the airport so late, it was the next day, and an additional day was charged on parking. 6. A written complaint was submitted to the airline at the time about the level of service and the catering. No reply has been received five months later. Presumably those who like this airline have either never flown before, are completely undiscerning, or have had a worse airline experience which we would all love to hear about.

It was a couple of years ago that I flew with Air 2000. Their service could have improved, but I will never travel with them again! My friend and I decided to go to Greece for the summer and booked it well in advance. I stated at the time of booking that I was a vegetarian and that I would need a veggie meal on the flight. We received confirmation from the travel agents that our special requirements had been requested and thought no more of it. The big day arrived and we were so excited, that was until mealtime on board the plane. You can probably guess what had happened, the crew bought the meals through and both of us had what I think resembled roast dinners put in front of us. When I enquired where my veggie meal was they said that they would see what they could do and took the meals away. They came back not long after with the same meals but with the meat taken off! I appreciate that they have the meals ready made before take off and only have certain numbers of veggie meals, which need to be ordered before hand, but I did order one! After this disaster I decided to watch the film and bought a pair of headphones from the stewardess. Which I was not happy about having to do, as other airlines offer free headphones to listen to the music channels or to watch the movie. I plugged them in sat back to relax (as much as you can in a plane seat!) only to find that these we broken and had to get then replaced. The saets are cramped and the staff are no at all happy to help. All in all it was my worst flight ever and as I said at the start I will not be using Air 2000 again!

I'm a frequent flyer of both schedules nad charter airlines and I have to say that Air 2000 are easily the worst comapny I have ever flown with. The check in for my flight to Luxor was a nightmare - it took more than 90 minutes, they had no record of the meals that had been booked, and they were the stingiest airline ever when it comes to luggage allowance - my hand luggage weighed 2.9Kg (the limit is 3) and I was told not to even think about putting anything else in my bag. When we eventually got on the plane (the flight was delayed by an hour)the whole 5-hour flight was just one long sales pitch from take off to landing. The cabin crew didn't appeared interested in customer service they just wanted to sell you things. I never got the vegetarian meal that I had requested over a month in advance and they appeared surprised that I had the nerve to complain about it (I never got an apology). The (delayed) flight back was even worse, the plane had to be the oldest Boeing 757 I've ever been on. It hadn't been refurbished for years, the seats were hideously uncomfortable, you could hardly see through the windows..etc. Quite how Air 2000 have managed to win awards for being the best UK charter airline is a complete mystery to me. Whenever I go to book a package holiday now I double check the airline and wouldn't book a holiday if the flight was with Air 2000. Never ever again.

I have recently made 4 journeys with Air 2000, so feel that I am in a good position to commenta bout them. The airline is widely used by travel operators like First Choice, so if you have a summer holiday to spain booked you may well be travelling with Air 2000. As you would expect Air 2000 is far from luxury. Their airplanes are designed to cram as many people as possible into them, so comfort isn't very good. The staff are helpful and polite however, and the food served is reasonable. I was given a hot sandwich, yogurt, chocolate bar, fruit and a choice of tea or coffee. On the flights back to the U.K. newspapers are handed out free of charge. You have the choice of the Mirror or the Independant! If you are desperate to get a paper make sure you get on the plane early as they ran out quite quick. A warning: If you are flying from Gatwick Airport, arrive early! Air 2000 has a strange arrangement where all their flights check in at the same desks, so long queues develop! I allmost missed my flight because I was made to queue for 1.5 hours! To summarise: Air 2000 isn't luxury, but it is o.k!
