Advantages: Good food, nice in-flight service

I fly to America frequently, and a few times I have used Air India due to the cheap flights available [VERY cheap!]. The first few times were fine, apart from the curry smell [sorry but I'm not a big curry fan], but the last time I flew them wasn't so great. It started by them misquoting the travel agent. They had quoted her £167 including tax for a flight from London - Chicago. So that's what she charged me, but when she called up to confirm she was told that it was actually £197 - not a lot more but they insisted that it was £197 for that month, not £167. [the flight prices had actually been updated in the 15 minutes she had spent calling me to tell me the price!] So in the end the travel agent got them to cover half the increase and I paid the rest. [I was annoyed that they would update their prices in the middle of the day! Seems silly to me.]

So anyway, on the return flight back to London [this was in June, very hot in Chicago that day] we sat on the tarmac at the airport for 3 hours with no air conditioning, only water to drink and absolutely no explanation for what was going on.

Then when I got back I tried to talk to someone about what had happened and I just kept getting 'transferred' until I spoke to a man claiming to be a director [of what I don't know] for Air India. He told me I was lying and that I thought I must be God since I insisted I was right. Then he hung up.

Hopefully these were isolated incidents, but these are my experiences!
