Air India - a risk which is probably worth taking! (Air India)

Advantages: cheap!!!!!

Disadvantages: sometimes dirty and smelly

When I flew to New York, cost was my primary concern, and Air India offered a return ticket which was under £300 and left on the peak day which is Good Friday. Despite poor stories I had heard detailing of the flights' frequent late departures and unfriendly service, it was either take up the seat or not go at all!
The fights to JFK was not that bad, although the bizarre peach sandwich which I forced myself to eat made me feel decidedly queasy, and the staff were in general nice and helpful. However the return leg was not so good - the aircraft smelled and the toilets were dirty and in one washbasin was the remnants of (probably) someone's regurgitated peach sandwich!
However if you have a strong stomach and a genuine desire to fly somewhere which otherwise you wouldn't be able to afford, I would recommend this airline. Just put on the headphones and sleep, and you'll be there in no time!
