Advantages: We stayed in the air

Disadvantages: Just about everything else

I have been a frequent flyer to South Africa over the last 7 years. I used Air Namibia once and will never fly with them again! The food was average and the entertainment system comprised of those screens that drop down from the ceiling - so we all get to watch the same film. I settled in to watch the film and each time it started to get interesting another fault developed and it would be shut off and replaced with the planes journey screen. Added to the cramped seating and a pilot who was determined to use the wind to get the plane to do as many twists and turns, ups and downs as possible - it made for an unforgettable experience for the wrong reasons.

Unfortunately I tend to get travel sick whilst flying and (due to not wanting to upset those around me) tend to spend most of the trip in the loo being sick - Sorry for those who may be reading this whilst eating, or who may have a sensitive disposition - I had stewardesses banging on the door and more or less ordering me to get out - even after telling them I was unwell.

The stewardesses then told me that the reason I was being ill was because I hadn't eaten enough (I wasn't in any fit state to debate with them and thought that they must have more Knowledge of these things than I) I list in order what they gave me to CURE MY TRAVEL SICKNESS. Chocolate cake, two mars bars, a thick lump of cheese, and a coke!

Needless to say that they soon realised their mistake when it all returned to them - with interest.

Do they not teach them at training school that air sickness can be alleviated by sipping ginger beer and NOT EATING!

The pilot thought he was a cowboy and was determined to use the turbulence and the strong winds at Windhoek (it's not called windy corner for nothing) to see if he could make all his passengers sick at once.

If you take nothing else from this then I implore you - please don't make the mistake of flying Air Namibia to South Africa.

Summary: Old planes, inadequately trained staff, ancient entertainment system - Don't fly with them!

Even modern airplanes can suffer turbulence, it has nothing to do with the age it was built. Just depends on the atmoshperic conditions. Sounds like the cabin crew were quite attentive to you, even if misdirected. A little unfair maybe, based on one flight.
