Advantages: Cheap as Chips

Disadvantages: Scheduling and usual budget airline restrictions

I was very impressed with Air Asia. They won a 'Best Asian Low Cost Carrier' award in 2007/8, and I found the whole experience to be very pleasant.

As they are an internet based airline their site can run slowly and I know people can have dificulty with Visa processing their payments. However I personally didnt have a problem booking my flights.

Air Asia are very bad for making schedule changes of over 12 hours. I would hesisitate booking onward connecting flights with other airlines as a missed connection would not be covered by insurance nor would the airline be responsibly in up lifting you onto the next available flight. The only exception would be if your connecting flight is with Air Asia, in which case it is up to their own discretion.

I found after having a time change I was able to change free of cost to a flight which suited me better. I also didnt have any problems contacting Air Asia via the phone.

Summary: You get what you pay for
