Advantages: Excellent seating if you are under five feet tall
Disadvantages: Uncomfortable, squashed seating
Airtours flights are excellent, or at least they would be if you could actually move during the flight! I flew from Larnaca in Cyprus to Manchester this weekend and I have never had such an uncomfortable flight.
The service was excellent and the food was good (as far as airline food goes). The staff were efficient and friendly but once you were in your seat it was very hard to get out. There wasn't enough leg room for me and I'm only five feet three tall. I pity anyone taller (most people). It was very difficult to get in and out of the seats (once again I am very small!) When the person in front of me reclined their seat I felt trapped and I could hardly get out of my seat. Getting in and out at the end of a row was virtually impossible.
This is very uncomfortable and could even be a health hazard. A stewardess did issue a warning that we should stand up or move our legs around every hour. She didn't explain how we were to get out of our seats.
It is possible to upgrade your seat on an Airtours flight but not everyone can do this and passengers shouldn't have to pay extra for a basic level of comfort.
In an emergency it would have been impossible to get passengers out of seats quickly. Surely something should be done about this. A game of sardines in an aeroplane is not much fun.
